Steve Imrich is painter with a background in visual arts, design, and aviation. Experimenting with the power of context and the entanglement of nature with design, his paintings often evoke impressions from unusual vantages. His experience and memories as a pilot also influence his projects. Steve’s work has been shown throughout New England including at the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Danforth Museum, and the Fitchburg Art Museum. Imrich has had work selected for the US State Department’s Arts in Embassies program as well as for curated shows in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, and Vermont. He received residency at the Vermont Studio Center and is represented by Soprafina Gallery in Boston’s South End. Steve holds a Master of Architecture from MIT and a BA from Goddard College with a concentration in Studio Arts and History. At Goddard he studied under Hiam Steinbach, David Novak, and Peter Ruddick and afterwards practiced as a Designer and Principal at Cambridge Seven Associates before returning to painting full-time. Current paintings explore how models and virtual landscapes hint about passing time. He paints in Somerville, MA.
